Traveler Reviews on Kingston

Whitfield Hall

Dec 31, 2008

My husband and I were looking for an adventure and set-off to trek to the highest mountain top in the Blue Mountains. We found Whitfield Hall in the Moon Jamaica Handbook and rang them up. 24 hours later we were making our way by bus first to Kingston, then hopped another local bus to Papine, then another to Mavis Bank.... more

Mayfair Hotel

Dec 24, 2008

I travel to jamaica every year to cover Rally Jamaica. This is the 2nd year I stayed at the Mayfair. This time I had a very horrible experience, I woke up on the final day to realise that my two Production cameras, a laptop and two cell phones were stolen from my room while I was asleep. A subsequent inspection... more

Kingston Hilton Hotel

Dec 19, 2008

The room I got was in need of renovations, especially the bathroom. Beds were not up to the standard I would expect from a Hilton hotel ; there were two single beds with very basic mattresses. For what I got, I would have expected to have paid 1/2 of the rate. Staff were nice, but this hotel definitely drags down... more

My husband and I would normally celebrate our special holidays by selecting some of the most luxurious hotels that pampered you in all-inclusive indulgences. On this our 4th anniversary, I wanted to be away from man-made entertainment and all the noise that usually accompanies that type of vacation (by the way our last trip was to Las Vegas which was... more

Dec 8, 2008

We just returned from a trip to Jamaica where we stayed at the Knutsford Court in Kingston. The main reason why we booked with that hotel was that they had a kitchenette available. Our room was on the ground floor by the pool. The first thing we noticed in the room was the mosquitoes. We were constantly bitten by mosquitoes... more

Read about this hotel on Trip Advisor! The price seemed right so we decided to spend a night there while we were in Kingston. The hotel was very accommodating as we didn't have a reservation. We got a room with our own private bathroom and we just had a fan no A/C, which was fine by us. The hotel was... more

I spent 7 nights at the Altamont on a business trip. It was recommended by a local colleague after I rebelled at the $200 + per night rates (w/ tax) of the Hilton, Pegasus, etc. With tax it was $128/night which included breakfast (adequate, nothing fancy but plenty of serve yourself coffee) and the wireless internet connection in the room... more

Jerk Epicurean Tour

Nov 18, 2008

Our guide and driver were ok. Fern Gully was lovely and we drove through it for a few miles on the way to the Walkerswood Factory tour. It was pegged as a way to discover local Jerk Chicken and sample the foods there. We had tasty Appleton rum punch when we arrived and sat for a lecture on the state... more

Stayed at the sandhurst (now called the prestige) for one night in october. Had a good stay, the staff were friendly and helpful. I stayed in one of the cgeaper rooms with a fan rather than a/c but i found a fan to be fine. The hotel was undergoing some renovation work but my room was fine clean and comfortable.... more

This is one of the best hotels in Kingston. My family and I were there for Christmas time. From the time we checked in the staff was nothing but professional. We got the suite (with the loft), and the room was clean, and well lit nothing was out of place. The breakfast was really good, and the food was always... more

We stayed here on our last night in Jamaica. The check in was slow, but we madeit through. We were on the third floor and there is no elevator. Upon arriving to the room- I walked in and saw an ashtray. I asked the person helping us with our bags was this a none smoking room. He said all the... more

There are other options at Port Royal, more satisfactory than this royally overpriced half star establishment. A room door which could not be locked, a partly decomposed teabag for a cup of lukewarm water (the best the water 'boiler' could do), insects inside, and breakfast paid but not actually received were among the memorable features of my brief stay at... more

A group of nine visited the factory Oct. 6, 2008. Barbara gave a wonderful tour explaining everything from the coffee cherries to the storage, curing, and roasting of the beans. We saw the beans being sorted by a number of workers. After the tour we enjoyed a taste of freshly brewed coffee. The charge was $5 US per person. Barbara... more

This establishment is a good choice for the money. I am a missionary and I stayed for 4 days in the middle of July. 08 I had a good room which was situated by the pool which I swim in every day I was there. The registration staff were friendly as well as the security outside. The maids were nice... more

Before I went to Kingston I read some of the reviews on trip advisor about this hotel and I did have reservations about staying here. It was prebooked by people we were visiting in Jamaica. I stayed with 3 other business colleagues for 2 nights on the 22nd Sept 2008. I had a room on the 9th floor overlooking the... more

The hotel was beautiful and quiet - Very old world style charm, comfy beds. The restaurant and bar are right on the harbor, so you can sit and eat and watch the yachts and the fish jumping. The hotel included a continental breakfast each morning, and other options were available. Dinner was okay - the fish was excellent, some of... more

We stayed here because we were stuck in Kingston because our flight was cancelled due to Tropical Storm Gustav. All I can say is.. is this really the Hilton? We were quoted a price of $165 per night for this hotel. The final bill? $250 per night. What a shock! They apparently gave us another room and didn't inform us... more
