Bed and Breakfast in Paris... perfect way to feel "local"!

Ask this member a question. BandBinParisforme Many trips to Europe, some with my daughter. Once I tried B&B "French-Style", I wouldn't go back to hotels. In the Northwest, many travelers love to see Europe "through the back door", and B&B affords that beautifully.

Great discovery for affordable and engaging Paris stays. My first stay with Alcove and Agapes was when my daughter was 5, and we were welcomed as family, treated to french dinners & insider tips on how to best get around, see sights less expensively, and local treasures not to be missed.

1. Bed and Breakfast in Paris
Website for Alcove & Agapes, featuring many great places to stay affordably in Paris. My first stay with Francoise & Herve in Montmartre was the best travel decision I ever made. They guided me to a local swimming pool, convinced me to take the bus rather than the metro, convinced me to take my daughter to Euro Disney, and let me know of bargain days at the Museums. They shared stories, opened their kitchen to me, were patient and loving with my 5 year old daughter, and made us special snacks and meals. It was as if we had French family we were fond of and hadn't seen for a while. Our stay was about 1/2 the cost of the tiny room in a quaint hotel we'd shared the year before. Since that 1st trip, we've made many more. I can not praise them highly enough, and look forward to my next trip!
A must see, and manageable with even a young child. We like to take the bus from our B&B in Montmartre to the stop by the Louvre, and stroll the Tulleries garden first.
Another small museum, great with children, who are fascinated by the many forms of creativity of this great artist. A nearby park makes for a great place to play with local children, and there are many nice little cafes in the Marais.
4. Sailing pond, Tuilleries Garden, Paris
Just across from the Louvre, the Tuilleries Garden is a great place for kids. There's an antique carousel, pony rides, a cart selling ice cream & sorbet, but best of all little rental toy sailboats that children gather to sail across the fountain pond. Comfortable chairs to rest a bit, write post cards, or just "people watch" or plot your next destination.
It's a half hour trek via a local commuter train, but what parent can resist Disney Land Paris-style. We found it blessedly uncrowded, and lots of fun.
We love the work of Rodin, and also Camille Claudel, and enjoy wandering the little enclosed park, taking in the outdoor sculpture. Kids love striking "The Thinker" pose, naturally, but are very taken with the shining marble sculptures inside the small (and therefore manageable even with very young children) museum. Nice place to take a picnic, but there is also a little outdoor cafe.
We know this is a little touristy and such, but at night, when the lights illuminate bridges and Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower makes its nightly dazzling light display, it is fun take a less-crowded boat and see the City from a different angle.
8. Les Archets de Paris- Chamber Music Concerts at Sainte Chappelle, Paris
When in Paris, I look for posters advertising Chamber Music Concerts in little chapel venues, and am delighted to plan one into my trip. Listening to a concert in a royal chapel is delightful, and my daughter has enjoyed it, too. Not a good choice for restless or noisy children, bet great experience for more mature ones.
