Laguardia is a small (pop 1500) walled village in the rioja wine area of Basque country. the Posada was once a palace and it is a remarkable hotel. It has its own wine production in its cellar and you can take a short tour and have a glass of wine there. The hotel has lovely rooms with beamed ceilings and... more

I booked this hotel in August 2007 and sent my card details by fax to confirm. When we arrived the Manager the owners son said that they had not received a booking and there was no room for us. He became extreamly agressive when we pionted out their incompetance and practically threw us out of the building. We found another... more

If I could rate this hotel "star-less", I would. After nearly two years of planning our wedding dinner/reception at this hotel, and several trips to Laguardia (only to fail miserably at locking in all of the necessary details with Meri, the extremely problematic owner of this hotel/restaurant), we made the mistake of missing an appointment with her (which she had... more

We stayed 3 nights in the Mayor de Migueloa in May. Hotel is located inside of the old city, which makes arrival and departure somewhat challenging with luggage. Hotel offers secure parking, however we parked for no charge just outside the city wall without issue (and our rental was a BMW). Laguardia is the most charming town in Rioja, and... more

We stayed at this hotel thinking we would be getting a quaint taste of Spain. No such luck. Management is extremely rude and unreliable and treats guests like cash cows. As long as you spend all your money in the hotel you will be treated to fake smiles and transparent charm, but the second you decide to do anything other... more

We didn't stay here as our travel agent had to move us to another hotel in Laguardia but decided to eat here. The dinner was a strange experience. The waiter was extremely depressed and huffed and puffed his way around the dining room. He was also quite hostile in response to our questions. The food was overpriced and thoroughly unremarkable.... more

to our disapointment our room was what they call "interior", i.e. the small window has a view on some kind of dark well from which you don't even see the sky...on top of that from the well came a loud noise of a turbine/engine plus loud voices from the kitchen, not even to mention the intense smell of fat ...;... more

We spent part of our honeymoon here and absolutely loved it. Its not a resort by any means, its in a 16th century village that does not let cars inside the city walls. The hotel has character and you really fell like your getting a cultural experience when you stay. The staff was very helpful with bags, parking and trying... more

This Hotel was a real find. Set deep in the heart of Laguardia this family run hotel was a true highlight of our recent tour of La Rioja and Viscaya regions. Yes the hotel is a little quirky, but the service and quality of the food was fantastic. They really could not do enough for us. Would recommend this hotel... more

Worst hotel experience in years. Room cramped, uncomfortable, air conditioning didn't work, lots of flies. Way overpriced. Management's behavior quickly degenerated from commercially aggressive at the start (guest viewed as revenue generator, high pressure to buy extra goods and services, room overflowing with ads, etc.) to just plain aggressive. Shocking unprofessionalism. Avoid! more
