My boyfriend and I have just returned from the Riu Bachata and had a fabulous holiday. I actually tried to cancel a couple of days before as I was worried about the hurricane situation and also because I had read such awful reviews here! We were so glad we never cancelled - no threat of hurriance and only a little... more

Just returned from our 8 day* stay at the Riu Bachata. We arrived at the hotel and were greeted with delicious cocktails where we were given our wristbands and room keys without delay. We went to our room which was very clean and spacious with plenty of towels and a well stocked fridge!! Our cases were brought to our rooms... more

Whatever negative reviews you have read about the RIU Bachata are TRUE! I don't want to repeat too much, but I can verify the obvious. They don't give you clean towels everyday. They put two twin beds together and call it a "king", and they offer no activities. This place should be shut down for so many reasons. First and... more

The Riu is a nice chain. I have stayed in them all over the Caribbean. The Riu Bachata is no exception, the hotel does live up to Riu standards in terms of staff friendliness, hotel cleanliness etc. The Bachata has a little to be desired in other areas though. I was quite disappointed that in the month of August the... more

Me and my parents stayed at the Riu Bachata resort. When we first got there we couldn't get a room right away because they were still cleaning the rooms after the people that have just moved out. It was around 1 hour wait but it was worth it. The rooms were very clean and there were fresh towels everyday. The... more

HORRIBLE!!!!Don't book a stay here!!! HORRIBLE. If is wasn't for the time spent with my family I would've cried everyday. Let's start from the Lobby. My family and I arrived and no one was there to help with our luggage. Okay....no problem. I was traveling with 3 children and my mom and booked two rooms. They could not provide us... more

When is a 5* resort not a 5*? When it looks good but offers very poor quality food, inappropriate entertainment, out of control children by the dozens, and loud noise that continues until 11:30 pm. Food - pasta, potatoes, pizza and chickedn EVERY day. When there was seafood it was in a rice or noodles and it was served to... more

We have just returned from a fortnight staying at the Clubhotel Riu Bachata. Our party consisted of my wife and I and our two teenagers aged 18 and 16 years. We paid just short of £4000 for this break and as it was a RIU and a Thompson Gold hotel we went expecting quite a lot and were bitterly disappointed... more

I went here last year with my boyfriend and was pleased with the choice we made, being our second holiday together. Unfortunately we began with a twelve hour flight delay, however, this didnt affect our time in the Dominican. I was a bit disappointed to be put on the lower floor as I always enjoy a better view from a... more
