The hotel has a very good location in old Montreal, but the problem is the rooms are not clean enough, and there never seems to be staff to attend to when you need something. During Saturday and Sunday our room was not cleaned! We knew that hotel rooms are not 'bargain' in the city, but we would recommend people to... more

We selected this property from a third party representative. We were looking for an apartment/condo to rent for the week which was in a good location and had a kitchen. When we arrived at the "apartment" it was not as the pictures from the website presented it. The furntiure pillows were strewn about the room. There was only one window... more

I stayed 4 nights in this hotel recently and my experience was very poor. The only point in its favour is the hotel's location - in the centre of Vieux Montreal and very close to the Vieux Port, Basilique Notre Dame and surrounding attarctions. However, the downsides: - VERY NOISY bedroom, due to traffic from the street outside. The windows... more

My wife stayed there for the week. Even though they lack many services. . .a phone in the room is a must. . . she came back very very happy with their service. It was clean, not as noisy as reviewed before. The restaurant was excellent. And you can't beat such a good location. They speak french and spanish, and... more

I made the mistake of scheduling a two day trip to Montreal during the insanely popular Grand Prix weekend. So, at last minute, I was desperate for lodging... any lodging. All I could find available was the Casa de Mateo, and I was at least grateful to have a bed somewhere in the city. But alas, the experience was so... more

The good part-the Bed and Breakfast is in a great part of town, with all the historic sites and a subway station within walking distance.Xavier and the spanish guy who runs the restaurant downstairs are good people, polite and friendly. I was served an awesome breakfast every morning which made up for some of my disappointment. The not so good-The... more

I love this place for many reasons: 1. They have the most deliocious mexican food I ever tasted in my life. 2. They have comfortable rooms. 3. It's located in the most beautiful area in Montreal. 4. They have mexican shows. 5. The mexican singer is extarordinary. 6. You can speak spanish there and that is very comfortable after speak... more

I booked my stay about 2 days before I arrived over the busy Labor Day weekend. I spoke with Fanny, who was so nice and helpful on the phone. Though they didn't have a single available for my first night, she put me in a double without charging me extra for it. The room and shared bathrooms were all very... more

I was looking for a reasonably priced Hotel or B & B in Old Montreal. My sister, (whom I was traveling with) and I are not in our twenties any longer and are not quite up to staying in a Hostel anymore, but we were looking for a great location and a clean and confortable place, although we can do... more

My husband & I stayed at Casa de Mateo recently and were thrilled with the location - it's literally around the corner from the Notre Dame Basilica in Old Montreal; we did a fair amount of research on the internet before going & this auberge was priced substanstially less than many others. Warning, this is NOT a luxury accomodation by... more
