I booked a night at this hotel after finding a really good deal on laterooms.com (the room was less than half price, at £65) on New Year's Day, to recover after our Hogmanay celebrations the night before. The hotel is well located, with views overlooking the castle, and is impressive from the outside. As soon as we got to the... more

Hi there! We spent our Christmas 2008 at The Pont Hotel and I can honestly say, all in all it was a lovely stay. I liked to see a bit of a modern style appearing in Edinburgh, an being an interior designer I must say the efford that has been made must be praised. Some smaller issues made the stay... more

We have a "Christmas Shopping" Trip every year and every other year we return to our spiritual home of Edinburgh. To date we have always stayed at the Apex International Hotel but this has now become a little pricey for our budget albeit it is still an excellent hotel in a great location........so, what to do? Spent a long time... more

Let me first just say that this review is no reflection on the staff we met, who were all very nice. However, this hotel is not one I would recommend to anyone except men on stag nights. For a start, it is in a really seedy area of town, surrounded by lap-dancing clubs and football bars. The hotel itself it... more

The Mercure Point Hotel is a well known 'boutique' hotel. It is close to tourist amenities, but despite this it is not noisy. The bedrooms are spacious and it is very clean and tidy. My only complaints are that the room was cold, the shower too powerful, and the corridor carpets are quite scruffy. This said, I would definitely recommend... more

After reading some unfavourable Trip Advisor reports on this Hotel, it was with trepidation that we entered the Point Hotel in Edinburgh.. Reception was very open and minimalistic looking with just a few leather chairs, not altogether welcoming but functional and the reception staff were pleasant enough. check in was efficient and so off in the very brightly painted lifts... more

Despite booking and paying nine months in advance for 3 rooms for a two night, weekend city break at this hotel, we arrived at 5.15 pm on Friday night to be told the hotel was overbooked, and we were being transferred to empty rooms at another Accor group hotel - the Novotel - in the middle of a business park... more

We were looking forward to stay at Point hotel as reviews were good. Unfortuntley, our bathroom was extremely dated, tap's lids were missing etc. Room is quite spacios but beds are squeaky. Location is very central and brekfast was good. Do ask for refurbished rooms in order to avoid dissapointment. more

Arrived here and were informed that the room we had booked had been upgraded to a suite free gratis, so had a huge jacuzzi bath and 2 massive flat screen televisions to play with! It was excellent. The room had a brilliant view of the Castle and it was immaculately clean. We went down for dinner and were treated exceptionally... more

My son and I shared a twin room (him 37 me 60) we only stayed 1 night as we had a hospital appointment and had driven all day so we were very tired , we rang and booked 2 rooms and we were quoted £55 per night however when we got there they denied this and offered us a twin... more
