The external saftey door did not lock The staff did not know anything or care about anything. The rooms are shabby and in need of a good clean mould in the bathroom. The unsecure parking is open to anybody, they take the money but no responsability for the cars. They took our money for transfer then refused to take us... more

Unpretentious hotel that supplies a comfortable nights accommodation before departing for other shores. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room a great bonus, but the jam biscuits (also supplied) had substantial growth on them. Well located in the town of Crawley. Does not have a shuttle service to Gatwick or complimentary breakfast as advertised on their web page. . more

I stayed at The George for 4 nights and after hearing a few dodgy reviews was very pleasantly surprised. I was staying alone but booked a double room as it was only an extra £3 per night. The room I had was very spacious and clean. Nothing flash but that was not to be expected. The floors were a bit... more

I stayed at the George for one night and slept very well. The room was clean and nice. It is a 16th century building so it has the expected strange stairs and added parts. Very nice pubs and restaurants within 30 meters from the hotel. Restaurant Blue India across the square was very good! I noticed a few obviously regular... more

We arrived in Crawley via train about an hour before sundown. The station was only a few blocks from the hotel so we walked through a nice town shopping area. On our stroll to the hotel we noticed plenty of food shops and of course pubs to choose for a bite to eat. There is a restaurant in the hotel... more

This was the worst hotel experience we have sampled between us having travelled for many years and to many destinations. We experienced more problems in a single night stay here, than we have done at previous hotels staying for two weeks. Having originally booked directly with the hotel over the phone (which in itself appeared difficult) we arrived at the... more

My family owned this hotel from somewhere around 1795 until the 1840's. In the lobby are receipts signed by my GGGrandfather. Nobody there knows that, of course. It could have been a bit cleaner but the stay was nice both times we have been there. I recommend Crawley as a very nice place, easy access by train, close to Airport.... more

The hotel looks realy nice from the outside but not so great on the inside. I was in a single room which was tiny - the bathroom was bigger than the bedroom. My window didnt shut properly and the curtains were all ripped. In the bathroom there is a hair dryer but there was hair all attached to it. the... more

I know this hotel is cheap (£49 we paid) but I didn't think it was very nice. The reception is dingy. The first room we got was stinking of cigarettes even though we asked for a non smoking room. We asked for another room. This room was ok except for a filthy skylight in the bathroom which was dripping with... more

We stayed at this hotel as a stop off to Gatwick airport. It is well located about a 10 min walk from Crawley train station and is ideal for those wanting a stop off before flying out of Gatwick. Crawley had many great eating places and I would particuarly recommend the indian just accross the street. The rooms were large... more
