Yesterday morning (Monday 24/Nov/2008) while I was making coffiee in a hotel restaurant my girlfriend asked one of the staff (older guy, pink shirt) how to make it -because there were two boxes with brown powders around - we had no experience with local coffee. When the guy saw me pouring water into a coffee cup he went crazy and... more

At the same price elsewhere I have experienced much decent place to stay. With the exception of the location "in Omonia" the hotel is not at all for a decent vacation. Dirty stinking lead road, average rooms and a very indifferent reception. The reception even on demand did not bother to provide with minor details like everything is closed on... more

The Ionis hotel isn't too far from Plaka, but the neighborhood surrounding the hotel was very questionable. Being from new york city, and living near Harlem, I thought I’d be fine with shady areas, but even I was concerned walking to the main tourist area even during the day, let alone after dark. One store down the block had been... more

I liked this hotel pretty well. It is near the Omonia metro station but a bit difficult to find without good directions. If you are coming from the airport you should definitely take the metro to Omonia as it costs about 6 Euros and doesn't take much longer than going by taxi. Unfortunately I arrived at night so I did... more

The air conditioning at this hotel operates a bare minimum so you never feel cool. The towels show three stars and are old and torn. Maid service was good and staff was professional. Location was good to the Metro which for .8 Euro per trip is a great way around Athens. Everything Tourist oriented in Athens costs, and food dining... more

We were traveling with an EF Tours group and spent one night at the Ionis. It's in a dodgy part of Athens (or so it seemed at night) -- the streets around the hotel were filthy). The room next to ours flooded (a backup in the bathroom), but to their credit, the hotel staff promptly repaired the problem and cleaned... more

Located 3 blocks away from Omnia Central subway station. Close to clothing shops and restaurants. Walking distance to the Acropolis and all of the sites in Athens. Hotel Room: Average in size, clean, everything worked, non-smoking not an option, we stayed on the top floor so it was relatively quiet at night. Front Desk: Helpful with providing information about sightseeing... more

The hotel was good value and the rooms were spacious and above all clean with clean towels everyday. Staff were helpful and friendly enough. The hotel is close to Omonia Square and not far from Plaka. I would recommend this hotel but would recommend staying in Plaka foremost. Its a lovely area with the most to see and do. more
