I stayed at the Morrison-Clark in May with my mom. I personally abhor large hotels and prefer charm and history. Both are evident at this hotel. The staff is genuinely courteous and helpful. If you read the previous reviews, you find some which are glowing and some which are very negative. To me, this reflects the nature of a historically-preserved old hotel. I'm a native Washingtonian but have never heard of or seen this hotel before. It was a nice change from other hotels I've stayed in with a quiet court yard, fire place in the lobby area and over all quiet area. It seems like it can be a Bed-n-Breakfast but its not. more

I got a very reasonable rate directly from the hotel's website and a simple upgrade request at the front-desk at check in scored us a room with a fun view and little balcony. Pictures do not show the dirty and cramped rooms, the unavailible staff, and the gang infested neighborhood. I checked in on Saturday at 6, I felt very unsafe, I checked out at 7 am... I went home.
