Bab al Shams is the ultimate Arabian getaway! The staff is ever so friendly and helpful. The hotel is interesting, even if you get lost you really don't mind! Nice pools and lots of activities. Restaurants excellent. Go to Al Hadeerah for supper, its an Arabian-style buffet with a show as well. You want to go back night after night!... more

We stayed at the bab al shams during april 2008. The weather conditions were excellent as extreme heat was not present at this time of the year. The hotel itself has one great advantage. It's in the desert! It is quite a unique feeling. There is no point to review the service only or the size of the bed or... more

We booked the BAS after staying there in 2005 as we thought it was such a tranquil and calm place after staying at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Jumeirah Emirates Towers on SZR. I did find out shortly after booking that there was some work being carried out. I tried desperately to contact the BAS reservation desk to find... more

The hotel that offers so much and yet delivers poorly. Imagine a hotel in the desert, sitting by the pool with beautiful views of the desert lanscape..well all you can do is imagine.. The pool areas are beautiful and plenty of them, the pool staff are very attentive and brought us towels before we even had a chance to ask for them,they... more

No problems when staying at this hotel. We stopped off for a few days on the way back to the UK from Japan and were met in the airport, escorted through immigration (by-passing all the queues) and driven to the hotel, about 30 or 40 minutes outside of Dubai. Being situated among the dunes, it's not a lively holiday destination,... more

We visited Dubai in Nov 06 and were surprised by how much we liked it. So we decided to stop in there on the way home from Thailand on our honeymoon. To be honest, we were dissappointed by the desert resort after our previous stay and Mina-al-Salam but we are unsure whether its only because Mina was so good. The... more

I think it's a shame that this hotel is not shouted about as much as "the other" desert resort - from what I've seen, it's much better looking (maybe I'm being fickle). We stayed here for two nights on the 'last leg' of our honeymoon, which first included the Mina A'Salaam followed by a week in Zanzibar. We were excited... more

I recently stayed at this hotel for three nights. The setting is outstanding as it is set in the middle of the desert so it is really tranquil and isolated. The rooms are all Arabian themed and very spacious with enormous beds and bathtubs!! We found the service very good around poolside and never waited more than 5mins before someone... more

My wife and I spent three days in this resort. The theme is that of an Arabian village, with lots of natural materials. The room had a huge bed, all the facilities you expect from a 5 star hotel and a nice “balcony” area (although we were on the ground floor – the hotel is a “low rise” design with... more

Resort on its own a beautiful piece of architecture. Interior design very unique. The hotel located 30 min away from Dubai in the middle of desert. Beautiful spot to enjoy vacation. The reception very chatty but not competent. more
