My husband and I spent 9 days on the Big Island, staying 4 nights at The Royal Kona Resort (see review) and 4 nights at The Mauna Lani Resort. We stayed at The Royal Kona because of it's location to everything such as restaurants and shops so that we could walk and not have to drive every day. My husband... more

We had an excellent stay here as a part of our honeymoon trip to the Big Island. Check in is a pleasurable experience as you are invited to sit, and are greeted with tropical juice, a flower lei and cold washcloths. We were upgraded to an ocean view room and found a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice in our... more

because that is that last time it felt like this hotel had renovations. Honestly, we booked the hotel based on the reviews from this site and were awfully disappointed. The check in staff were very friendly and gave us a free upgrade to a deluxe room. But I was floored when entering the room. There was a faint smell of... more

This a very nice resort right on the ocean. I attended a conference at the resort. The only issue I had was trying to arrange a late checkout. Because it is now off season and the economy is VERY slow the hotel was practically empty. Despite this, when I tried to arrange for a late check out the manager tried... more

This is our second trip to the Big Island and I don't know how our next one could be any better than this! Last time we stayed at the Marriott which was nice, but the Mauna Lani blew it away. I don't know where to start with my accolades for this resort. We stayed just after Halloween. Given the time... more

Similar to the last reviewer, we too were happy to check out of the Hilton and into the Mauna Lani. It is a far superior resort in every aspect. We were most pleased that this property actually has a beautiful sandy beaches (two) with complimentary cabana's. There was never a problem getting chairs (which cushions) or a shaded cabana either... more

My husband and I stayed six nights at the Mauna Lani for our honeymoon and loved it!! We booked through Orbitz and got a deal...stay five nights and get the sixth free and breakfast for two daily. It is the bed & breakfast package and I recommend it if you can find it. The breakfast buffet is delicious!! I was... more

What a find! We had checked out of the Hilton Waikoloa due to pitiful service levels and horrible food. We walked in to the Mauna Lani inquiring about a room and were immediately impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. We were given a Deluxe Oceanfront KIng room on the fifth floor. The full view of the oceanfront... more

Our room was small, but very nice. The best thing by far was the spectacular view. We were in room 629 (the top floor) and had a view towards Mauna Hualalai and the bay near Kawaihae. When we opened our patio, we could see the beautifully landscaped grounds of Mauna Lani, the nearby beach and the vast mountain in the... more

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at the Mauna Lani. It was amazing. If it is good service you want, and a relaxing, decompressing vacation, this is the place for you. We received the best service we have ever had, and we are both well-traveled, at the Mauna Lani. Upon arrival we were given leis, and a... more
