This hotel is centrally located, near Market Street, with easy access to BART, trolleys, and bus service. Chinatown is a 15-minute walk away. It was recently renovated and has some fun, hip updates, and the rooms are playfully named after some of the more famous residents of San Francisco (past and present) with their own caricatures provided by local art... more

I've stayed at numerous Best Western hotels around the country, and the Carriage Inn is a nice little gem in the heart of San Francisco. The location is a bit off the beaten path near 7th and Mission Streets in SoMa. Things outside the hotel are a bit 'rough' on the edges -- primarily in the walk between the hotel... more

This hotel used to be a great little Victorian Gem. I see they still advertise it that way. Not anymore. It is a tacky, cheap mishmas of cheap furniture, looks like remnants of paint and wallpaper and fabric close out sales. 22 different colors and patterns of fabric in my room alone. It is aggressively ugly. You want to turn... more

My friend and I stayed for 3 nights after a Mission Trip on 6th Street and the amazing SFMO. Now, I was 17 and she was 21. We were already comfortable with the conditions of 6th street as we had been there all week, but let me say that as long as you are a smart traveller, as you should... more

The hotel is a better than average Best Western. However, it is two blocks off Market, and not really a great part of Market at that. I took a quick walk to a 24 hour market after dark and that's not something I would want to do after a late night out. Location aside, the hotel is really not bad.... more

My wife and I stayed at this hotel and found it reasonably priced, very well decorated, larger then we expected, very clean, nice bathroom, and with parking at only $5 a day a real bargain for San Francisco. There was no food service but they had a small hot tub that was nice and it is convenient to Market street,... more

I stayed there July 25-28 and the entire hotel is now complete with the remodel. I didn't even recognize the lobby. This wasn't a "touch-up" remodel. I'm talking besides tearing down the building it seems like everything was gutted. The lobby - completely changed and very nice. Hallways - New wallpaper, paint, carpet, even the electrical outlets were brand new... more

My husband and I just got back from a 3 night stay at the BW Carriage Inn. After 6 years of marriage, my husband knows well that the MOST important thing to me is cleanliness and this hotel gets a perfect as far as cleanliness. I could not have asked for anything better. The bathroom was sooooo clean and the... more

We stayed at the hotel for three nights while in town to see family. Our room (1416) on the fourth (top) floor was clean, roomy and comfortable. The entire fourth floor has been recently renovated and the rooms are decorated in an eclectic style. Continental breakfast is delivered to the room each morning - juice, hot beverage, cereal, pastry and... more

We have recently returned from spending a week in San Francisco at the Carriage Inn. Rooms were spacious and recently decorated and also very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable! Very convinient having breakfast delivered to your door though choices were limited. The neighbourhood does take some getting used to but we did not feel unsafe. The hotel is extremely... more
