The Horton Grand has potential but it clearly needs to be renovated. The location is good, within minutes walking distance of attractions, restaurants and shopping. My room was pretty well cared for and seemed clean enough but the entire property is dated. The décor and furniture come off as an old tired themed hotel. The standard amenities you find in... more

This hotel was booked for me and 7 co-workers for a conference in town. Used to staying at "standard" 2-star hotels for business travel, like Hyatt, Marriott, etc. I have to say that this hotel was unacceptable for me. The hotel had a stale, musty odor that was covered up with too much fragrance. The room was clean enough, but... more

The high point of this hotel is the location - it's in easy walking distance of the heart of the Gas Lamp Quarter, but offset by a block or two so the noise is a little less. Great walking access to the convention center, the marina, and embarcadero park. The hotel itself is not ideal for business travelers- no free... more

Mold and dust everywhere, disguised under Victorian atmosphere. Management doesn't understand what a alergy crises is and not willing to give a refund.. more

Our room was not in the main victorian building. No AC in a very dark room. There was a wedding when we stayed there and it was realy noisy. People very unfriendly at the front desk. Very central and very closed to the best breakfast in town. more

I wanted a reasonably affordable hotel within walking distance of PETCO Park which limited my options. I had a choice between a Comfort Inn and the Horton. Neither hotel reviewed that well so I took a chance and booked at the Horton. I thought at the very least it would be an experience. I must admit that that I reluctantly... more

My friend and I stayed at the Horton Grand for three nights and were very pleased with our stay. It is located in the best part of town within walking distance to dozens of GREAT restaurants and within a short bus ride to Sea World, the zoo, and other San Diego attractions. Ken at the front desk was very helpful... more

I stayed here for 3 bad nights for a convention. I am appalled that ASTD would put this dump on their preferred list of hotels. This place is very tired. The service in the restaurant for breakfast is horrible. I went to Starbucks up the street after waiting for 30 minutes for service. This place should be leveled and a... more

I'd like to start by saying that my stay at the Horton was fundamentally fine - the room was clean and comfortable (although the bed was a little soft for my taste) and the location is great. The staff were also friendly and efficient. However, I was left with the feeling that this historic propery could be so much more.... more

A few of us stayed at this hotel during a conference. While my room was ok (clean, big bathroom, good showers), others complained of their rooms, including poor shower pressure, creaky floors. There's also a sewing room by the elevator on the 2nd floor and it just creeps you out. The only good thing is the location, just a few... more
