Though you might be heading to the Dominican Republic to relax, there’s a hoppin’ nightclub scene here if you want to put your dancing shoes on.

Headed to Santo Domingo? There are several clubs to greet you. You could start at the Bachata Rosa, which is part-owned by high-profile merengue musician Juan Luis Guerra. It features three floors – one featuring dancing, a second a live-music club, and the third a Caribbean restaurant. You could take in just one entertainment venue, or all three.

If you’re a little more mature but still want to get your groove on, check out Bella Bleus, which is owned by major league baseball player Jose Rio. This exclusive club features a slightly older crowd than most nightclubs, but is loud and exciting. There’s also an outdoor terrace where you can take a break.

If you’re looking for a special location for your night out, check out La Guacara Taina, which is set in an underground cavern. This club has some of the best merengue and salsa music and dancing and attracts both tourists and locals who enjoy the three bars and two dance floors. If you need a break, you can find a secluded, cool spot carved from the cavern’s walls.

Casino: There is one at Mangu and one at paradise; they are both small and they actually keep cigarettes handy in a glass on each table. There is a minimum to play and they are fast they don't wait for you.
