Acapulco, City-Center

Taxi’s in Acapulco are plentiful and considered safe to travel in at any hour of the day or night.  There are no meters in the taxi, so you might want to ask the fare to your destination before getting in the car.  If the fare sounds high, just wait for another taxi to pass by and ask that driver what he/she will charge.  The small Volkswagen "bug" taxi’s are less expensive than the 4-door sedan autos. Fares typically rise after 10-11 p.m., and during the overnight hours.

Acapulco Diamante, Princess and Mayan Palace Resorts

Most taxi fares in the city itself are likely to be the peso equivalent of less than U.S.$5.  If you’re staying further out, in the area of the Mayan Palace and Princess resorts, taxi fares might be the peso equivalent of U.S.$10-15 each way back and forth, to and from the center of the city.  Options for taking taxi's from the resort properties are limited and you may be asked to pay as much as the peso equivalent of U.S.$20-25 to travel to the center of the city.  Travel back to the resorts in one of the random taxi's will typically be less (than the ride into the center of the city).

Collectivo Taxi's

Along Costera Miguel Aleman, from about the CiCi water park to Puerto Marques, collectivo yellow and white taxi's operate.  You can flag one down, and hop-in with other passengers.  The driver will let you out where you request.  The fares in these taxi's are approximately 4 pesos.

General Information

Not all taxi drivers speak English, or maybe not enough English to fully understand what you're asking for as regards your destsination.  So, be patient when explaining, and, if possible, write down the address (or cross-streets) of where you're going and show the piece of paper to the driver.
