One of the methods that many travellers use to prepare for their vacation is to read about the area. The following books are recommended for travellers planning a trip to Prague:

Guidebooks:

Rough Guide to Prague (5th Edition), 2002 (not updated annually)

Rick Steves’ Prague and the Czech Republic 2005, by Rick Steves & Honza Vihan (updated annually)

Czech and Slovak Touches: Recipes, History, Travel, Folk Arts, by Pat Martin, 1999

Prague in Black and Gold : Scenes from the Life of a European City, by Peter Demetz, 1998

Only in Prague: A Guide to Hidden Corners, Little-Known Places and Unusual Objects, by Duncan J. D. Smith, 2008. This richly illustrated off-the-beaten-track guide to more than 80 fascinating and unusual sights will appeal to explorers and independent travellers

Prague (A Cultural and Literary History), by Richard Burton, Interlink Books.  This is a great (non-travel) book that provides an insight into Czech culture up until 2003
